RECTOR: MS. Carol Latronica
With over 30 years of dedicated service and experience in higher education, Carol is excited to return to her alma mater. As an undergraduate at Notre Dame, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Carol also holds a Master’s of Science in Biology and a Master’s of Science in Education and Counseling as well as a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Over the last 30 years, Carol has served in a wide range of roles aimed at helping students to develop into flourishing young adults, including: Teacher’s Assistant tutoring nursing students struggling with biochemistry and organic chemistry; Resident Director managing a campus of 34 buildings and 250 women while also serving on the judicial board for the University; Counselor providing individual and group counseling for personal and emotional concerns and aiding in crisis intervention; Coordinator of Resident Education supervising 15 resident assistants responsible for over 600 students; and Dean of Student Development in which she advised and directed educational efforts of the Wellness Center, Greek Life and Student Activities, and all campus ministries, among other responsibilities. Carol recently returned to Notre Dame to row with her teammates and has enjoyed rowing in the Head of the Charles and Schuylkill races. She and her Labradoodle, Lucca, are overjoyed to call Welsh Family home!
When asked how she felt about returning to Notre Dame as Rector, Carol said: “I had the privilege of sharing life in the residence hall with my beloved Rector, Sr. Jean Lenz. I learned from Sr. Jean the importance of being authentic and living in the image of Christ. Because my work ethic has always included sincere care and empowering students to be their best, the long hours that this position requires do not daunt me; I will face each day with enthusiasm. My passion is working with young women, ultimately encouraging them to reach the stars. I am very excited to return to serving directly with students and empowering them to become the best person possible.”
